When Brittany and I first spoke on the phone about her engagement session, she wasn’t quite sure which location to choose. I began asking questions to dig deeper into what would hold the most meaning for her and Tyler. As an educator, Brittany loved my questioning and loved that I was taking the time to learn about them as a couple. I knew right then that we would hit it off instantly! Early in their relationship, Tyler lived in Dupont Circle, and the two of them spent a lot of time in DC. With so many memories there, a DC engagement session was inevitable!
Meeting Brittany for the first time Saturday morning was like meeting a new friend (except most new friends don’t meet at sunrise!). Her personality is so kind and inviting! I’m certain that the ease about her draws her students in and helps them feel comfortable and supported. Brittany is a reading intervention teacher, and I know it takes a strong but warm personality to fill this role. How lucky her students are to have her! Within minutes at the Lincoln Memorial, Tyler and Brittany were already masters in front of the camera! This is no surprise because Brittany and Tyler are so natural together. They enjoyed one another’s company, laughed a ton, and just genuinely had fun. Tyler joked about how he squints a lot in pictures and wished me luck with that! But honestly, all I saw was the way Tyler looked at Brittany in a way that said, “I’ll cherish you forever.”
I felt so honored to spend the morning with them and to be a part of their special engagement. Their relationship has qualities that will carry them through a lifetime of cherishing one another. I’m excited for both of them and their wedding next year! And not to worry Tyler, I edited out all the squinty photos (not that there were any…)!
